Break Pads..

On my 2nd GS now...

I could'nt belive it. Just had to replace the rear break pads.
Bike has just clocked 3,000 miles too... Crazy or what.

Used to get about 20 thou out my old Varadero!

Having started this thread, I should report that I changed my rear pads at 22k miles. They weren't on the metal, but wouldn't have got to 23k miles!

Fronts are still original, though!

Greg

Bike magazine noted heavy rear pad wear on their long term GT. My old K75 used to eat rears. Just seems to be a BMW thing....

I do a lot of town work, and replaced my rear pads at 8000 miles on my 02 1150 non abs EVO brakes. Fronts still original at 12000

I dont think I use the rear brake a lot, but the wheel seems to collect a lot of brake dust:confused:

6000 miles on my rear pads, a bit more if I put copper grease on the pads itself :D

front I replaced recently but have no idea how long or mileage they have seen.

According to my Riders Handbook my new GS has partly Integral Servo Abs. Front brake operates both front and rear, whilst rear operates only the rear.
Rod

thats what I thought. Ive got an abs twin spark servo´d adv.

got 10k on my bike never replaced any of the pads and they all look fine :D

have to say I agree with Greg brake only slow you down so not into using them that much;)

Don't know when mine wear out I change the bike, its a cleaner job:D

But seriously folks 10K and thats already three times running so I suppose that bruxelles riding is doing them in.

30K last set up front and they are fine...

rear pad wear

I think 15k+ should be it but I do have a friend who is in this club (he knows who he is) and he uses the rear brake pedal as an additional foot rest so he gets through his pads at quite a rate, dics too!!!
so to make the pads last longer keep your foot off the pedal........
regards,
Barrie

Bike bought from MILL Sunderland with 5700 miles on clock and they gave me a free 6000 mile service and Tested it. The pads were down to the the metal after 100 miles (the original Pads).Work that one out?
Replaced with EBC HH which are only one third worn after 8000 miles

12k on the rears and they look half worn. Clean me calipers brave and often mind. Every 2-3 weeks in this weather only takes about half an hour. :)

i'm on a round the world trip, if that matters, anyway i'm still on my first set after 70000km. they will need changing very soon. i'm still running them past the wear hole and there is still plenty of meat on them.
by the way the front pads look hadly worn. the bike is a servo ABS model.
am i doing something right or wrong ?
