Rear Brake pedal adjustable?????

Hi everyone
Can anyone tell me if the rear brake pedal is height adjustable as I find it a little low, I see the rod to the master cylinder is adjustable but when I move it it doesn't seem to alter the height of the pedal, only the free play to the master cylinder

As you observe, that adjuster has no effect on the pedal position - it is only there to adjust free play. If you *do* try to use it to change the pedal position, you run the risk of removing all free play, resulting in the brake not being able to fully release, which will likely lead to binding and premature disc/pad wear.

When I owned by 1200GS, I used a Wunderlich Brake Pedal Enlarger which makes it sightly larger but also lifts it by approx 3mm - may not sound like much but it made a nice difference to me.

Like you I've looked for the brake pedal height adjuster screw as fitted to many/most/all? Japanese bikes - not found. So no, one cannot, short of using a grinder/lump hammer adjust the pedal height.

I had the reverse issue. I wanted my brake pedal to be 10mm lower.

So solve this - I put a piece of fairly thick fuel line over the pin that acts as as stop. This made the pedal go down, as the stop hit earlier.

Adjusted the free-play thingy at the back of it to make sure the brakes weren't dragging and it was good to go.

Sorry, that's not much use to you though, as you want things to move up ......

If it's a GS, then fit the wunderlich brake pedal enlarger and REMOVE the rubbers from the footpegs. Brings the pedal up nicely.

I believe from 08 on the pedal height is no longer adjustable. Eggchasers suggestion of using a Wunderlich pedal extender is a good one, I have been looking for one for a while as being a cheapskate I refuse to pay £30 for a new one. Not sure if the other serrated type of extender (Touratech amongst others) would work as it may not actually raise pedal height.
Look on the bright side, if like me you find the rear brake difficult to use, it will save you a few quid on rear pads. Just looked at mine and at 25k they are little worn

Just a note of caution about the wunderlich brake pedal extender: I bought and fitted one and found that it extended the pedal out about 20mm too far for me. when at not using the brake, my foot rests along side the pedal and my boot kept catching the pedal feeling like I was dragging the brake all the time. Took it off after about 20 miles! The extender is made from plate which is only about 2mm thick - not much of a pedal lift.

I also wanted my brake pedal on my 12GS to be higher so I swapped if for an ADV one and keep the extra thingy in the down position. Works very well for me.
