Rear brake pedal height -1150 GSA SE

Hi,

Can the brake pedal height be adjusted? The brake pedal is a bit too far below horizontal for me and I find myself having to reach down with my toe before I make contact with it. The bike has just been serviced and brake fluid changed so I am assuming it is in the standard position but it doesn't suit me. Also is there a wider footplate available as also seems a bit narrow for me. It may just be a matter of getting used to it as today was my first longish ride.

THere were a few incidences where people adjusted the pedal lower
but didn't shorten the pushrod at the rear Ending up in burning pads
and boiling fluid

BUT You want the other way so my advice set the pedal where
you want it and then lengthen the pushrod, be careful to leave the
required freeplay or you'll get the same problems

Part 2 is the pivot pin You'll see the locknut and stuff to adjust when you look

Regarding the rear brake pedal - I have fitted the Touratech Brake Pedal extender to my 2004 R1150 GSA - see it on this link. I find it very good.

If you alter the brake pedal height you also have to modify the rear brake light micro switch. I need to do that as friends tell me my brake light is on a lot (though I swear my foot isn't near the pedal and the hand lever isn't binding). It may be that the Touratech part is heavy enough to bring the light on - I don't know as I haven't investigated it yet.

As far as I can recall, neither the pedal nor switch position are designed to be altered - but I might be wrong. Others will no doubt be along shortly to give a definitive answer.

You have probably got your brake pedal sorted by now - but if not, this might help.

From this you can see the pedal height adjuster bolt and locknut and the threaded end and locknut where the master cylinder pushrod meets the clevis on the brake pedal.

The brake light switch is out of sight but I was able to adjust mine this afternoon with an Allen Key. There is a bit of slack in the mounting and some minimal adjustment is possible.

Remember to leave a good few turns of thread in the clevis for safety
