Hi all,

Just rolled my 13 Gs out of the garage backwards and the rear brake seemed to be catching... Rolled it forward and its squealing.

Put on centre stand and the rear wheel won't spin freely. The rear disc seems to have slightly darker streaks around it unlike the front.
It's also rougher than the front discs to touch.

Rode it to and from work yesterday and didn't notice anything and rode 200 miles last Sunday in wet conditions.

Don't really feel confident to drive it and I'm no mechanic!

Should I call the dealer tomorrow as its under warranty or any ideas?

Try the brake pedal is it stiff does it return smoothly, I had the same issue on my 2013 just before I sold it, Sod's law I know but all It needed was to remove it clean and re grease and it was as good as new. I noticed mine because the brake light was staying on.

Failing that it could be the pads have. Seized and need a clean up.

Terry

The lever is working fine. Yes i use brake cleaner after washing and using f365 in case there's any on the discs etc. il give it a good clean in the morning but the morning and see, but the dark residue seems strange.

I had something similar occur on a motorway - rear brake came on and wouldn't release. I pulled in, waited for a while and it decompressed and I rode on. The rear disc was blue colour. I phoned my local stealer and they had never heard of it!!!! Oddly enough I'd come across it before - I'd a 2008 gsa that did the same thing to me previously. As soon as the brake fluid was replaced I never experience it again - don't know if that's just coincidence or a solution!

Sounds like the pads are sticking due to ingress of foreign matter. Whip them out clean and grease the backs before refitting.

sounds like a piston within the brake calliper, has the bike been parked up for a few days, put away wet etc.If it continues try hitting the calliper with a soft faced hammer,if the brake frees up as result the calliper will need stripping and cleaning, its not a massive job

If I just take the caliper off to check the pads brake fluid won't piss out on its own without pulling the lever will it?

You don't need to take the calliper off to check the pads
