...lots of fog these last few weeks and more forecast for tomorrow. Been planning to buy some sort of clip on fog light to make me a little more viz.

Was thinking of buying something from cycle shops - Has anyone else any thoughts....

I bought a small rear light unit from a local motor factors, fashioned a suitable mounting bracket and stuck an LED stop light bulb in it, mounted inside the pannier frame on the offside. Haven't got around to putting a switch on it yet so I just pull the wire off when I don't need it.

If you go for the led cycle light option - cateye do a strip rear light with 5 ultra bright leds in it. I've been told its incredibly bright from behind and for maximum visibility / car annoyance it has 3 flashing modes, one of which is a nite rider style back and forth flash.

Rear Fog Light

Phil's suggestion for the LED's that also have the flash / strobe option got me thinking how visible they would be, but then wondered if they would be legal ?

Does anybody know ?

They would not be legal, you are not allowed to have flashing lights on a vehicle except indicators. Even on pushbikes. Unless of course you are an emergency/recovery vehicle.

fog lights

Hi have just wired up my led indicator lights from techno. They have 2 settings and so for now i have set the normal level to the brake light and the brighter setting as a fog light activated from the NN autoswitch. Works a treat :thumb.

later in the year (when the fog has gone) i will swap it around so that the brighter setting will be with the brake light and the normal one to come on with the tail light.

have wired the fronts on hi setting direct to the front side light and will leave them like that - looks fantastic!
