I fitted a cheap Chinese one on mine in the past, you have to solder the wires as the one i had didnt come with the same connector. Easy enough and worked fine.

Was it the usual problem with dirt and shit all around the rear terminals and hense a lot off corrosion. Absolutely terrible design.
Though you do wonder how it all gets in there?
I had to replace mine a number of years ago because of it.
No, the whole unit snapped off. It’s a long story but when it happened I disconnected the 3 wires and put the unit in a bag.
My friends idea was to superglue the wires back in place, superglue the unit back on the bike and we were able to manage a very secure attachment using cable ties - it all worked and will, most likely, see me out.
