Just got myself a nice Dr 400 and am looking
for a rear carrier for it. Any help would be appreciated.

Tried that. Nothing but drz s. The one I've got is an 81 Dr.

Have a look to see if the DR350 or DR600 parts are similar to your DR400 - many of the old DRs are interchangeable but the DRZ's were a bit of a different beast

Little chance of getting a bespoke item off the shelf nowadays but when we had dr350's at work we made them from 1/4 plate welded up or in the past I've bought a secondhand rack and altered it then got it powder coated.
Last one was using a s/hand rack from a 1981 gsx750 on a 1995 import 400 katana.
The welding and fabrication took about 1 1/2 hours from start to finish.

Look on that site at item 110847179961 and it will give you an idea, try starting with a rack from any similar vintage twin shock (I assume your dr is twin shock)

Got the rack. Fits the dr400 nicely. Just have to relocate rear indecators to accommodate the rack. Will post some picts.

A few pics of front and back rack. Front one came off a DR 250 I think and the front came off Gixer. Front one modified to fit onto the bars.
