Just done this, as I was removing the Pyramid hugger as it's pointless 
As the caliper was undone, I went for it.
But I would contradict the guy who wrote the article and say that I found it easier to get the pads back on the disc with the pad pin in place. This also has the advantage of retaining the anti rattle plate as well.
