Rear running lights

I have taped diamond reflective white tape across my top box and around the edges. Also around my pannier rails and on the forfront of my handguards. Slay me, but the different reflections are easily seen from all angles. And not obtrusive in the day/early. Too many bright lights make you seem like a cyclist..and we know how they are...!

If you wire them into the original brake/tail-light circuit does it not cause problems with the canbus?

No. The LED lights draw very little power so the canbus sytem does not register a change in the current being drawn.

newboy: they look good including the tail / brake option. I went on their website to buy a set for both me and my wife but, unfortunately, they want £14 to deliver to the Scottish highlands!!!! Holy sh**. They are the size of f*** all and weigh F*** all!!!!

fanfast: ordered, thanks for the info.! Postage was less than £4 - good find. Many thanks.

I made these brackets...

I fitted two small red LED's into the corners of my number plate, both bought off ebay for a few pounds each. I had the feeling id get
a few weeks out of them before they packed up but after close to a year both are still going strong.
The one thing I had to do was fit a 1watt 470 ohm ceramic resister in the posative feed to them to reduce the brightnes.
I felt vindicated in fitting them after a police officer stopped me to ask where I had bought them and how I had fitted them!
After a bit of a chat he could see no reason for them not to be fitted the way I had them.
Mine are on all the time and I do feel a bit safer for having them. Easter 2014 I was hit from behind by a driver who said he couldnt
see me. I was in almost full HI VIZ and sitting on a GSX1100 at a round about! I will now do anything I can to make my self visible from behind.
After having the ribs down one side broken off my back bone and suffering 3 months of no work two small lights just make me feel a bit better about riding.

It seems the focus is on what is happening at the front of the bike, HID lights, LED running lights ect, but in bad weather conditions the rear of the bike is very dificult to see, especially by some fecking muppet on the bl**dy mobile.
So me thinks the addition of a couple of nice bright LED may just draw their attention....abit !!

Thats Why !!!
Very sensible and worthwhile

But all the lights in the world wont avoid being taken out by a gormless muppet doing Facebook. The big issue with over bright rear lights is dazzle.

This morning before dawn with a brightening sky and pouring rain an idiot on the dual carriageway was running the fog light causing horrendous glare. Everyone else was easily visible but that twonk had to use his retina searing fog lamp.

OK done it now

I decided to fit 2 Stop and Tail lights and fitted them to an aluminium bracket I glued, using numberplate stickers from the local motorist shop,to the rear of the Pannier.
Wiring is all external so no damage or leaks in the Panniers.
Spliced into the rear light wires right at the back of the bike, not actually cutting the originals, and ran the wire under the seat to the battery tray area.
Here I made up a circuit board that had a fuse block and 2 relays.
wired all this to 2 Sets of wires, one for each side.
Out from under the seat to the pannier rails and fitted a waterproof connector and down to the lights.
all cable clips were glued in place.
Also adde 2 reflectors, 1 to the top box and 1 to a mudflap fitted behind the number plate.

I fitted a pair to my 1150GS for the simple fact that my 10 year old son sometimes rides with me, I tried to make it more visible.
I also installed a flashing brake light that flashes 4 times when applied then stays on.
