I guess my rear shock needs a service. Bike has mega mileage and the rear bounces around like your on a water bed. Can anyone recomend a service centre in the Hampshire area for shock absorbers.

I don't know anyone in Hant's but THESE people aren't too far from you but you may need to allow a couple of weeks turn around.

Apparently they do shocks on Wednesdays :nenau so try and get it there on a Monday and it might get done in a week.

BTW. It's a £100 for an R1150GSA shock service and £60 extra if the rod needs re-chromed.

Firefox Racing in Keighley (West Yorks) do an excellent job on mine. You'd have to post it but it feels like new when it comes back. Less than £80 too!

Word of warning - First time I had it done they fitted a bleed and refill nipple in the top of the shock which fouled the suspension mount and I had to file a bit away for it to fit. No biggee though.

If you take some pictures of the top mount for them I'm sure they can re-locate it.

Used also ABE for my rear shock for R1150GS a year ago or so. They did a good job and it was a quick turnaround, too. I paid something like £105 including the P&P for the return via mail. :thumb2
Reconditioned Shock feels really good and I am not sure I will bother to fit my Wilbers back again...
Would I have known how close the shock performance has returned to its original level after the excellent recondition job, I probably would not have bothered to buy the Wilbers in first place...

I agree Harry, it's because the old shock feels so tired that maybe aftermarket ones feel so great? Would like to try an refurb back to back with a Wilbers or Ohlins to see what the difference really is........

Just been on the FireFox website, is there any point in going for a revalved/resprung shock? Mine is completely fucked now, so anything is an improvement, had anybody had there shock resprung? Partly tempted with fitting hyperpro springs, has anybody noticed a difference standard v resprung?

I had Hyperpro springs fitted to the shocks on my 1150 at the same time as ABE refurbed them.

I have ridden a few 1150's with standard suspension , mine with refurbed suspension and Hyperpro springs and one with hyperpro springs on standard suspension (24,000 miles).

I would say that, yes the Hyperpro springs do make a difference but not as much on their own as refurbishing the standard shocks.

It is a good idea if you intend fitting them to get them doen at the same time because once the shocks are refurbed (by ABE) I doubt the springs can be changed without de-pressurising them and them re- pressurising them due to the valves fitted.

The combination of the refurb and springs definitely tightened up the handling and it was better than when new.

just to give an extra thumbs up for hyperpro.
