Went to use my GS the other day found a nice puddle of oil under the rear shock. Whats the options can they be rebuilt? If so where and how much?
Do I go with the stock shock from BMW or something better OHLINS?

I'm looking more towards OHLINS as I intend to keep the bike a while longer in which case is it beast to fit front and rear OHLINS?

Any other options?

You know im in exactly the same boat today... got a very big trip coming up in 40 days... doh !

Unless you are a riding God or have a load of dosh to spend, changing the front is pretty much a waste of time so just change the rear:thumb

I use Hyperpro and am very pleased. You might also check out Wilburs who again are really good. Both are cheaper than Ohlins and of equal quality IMHO:thumb

Found a place in Derby for that rebuilds shocks will contact them first.

He's right - I changed the front to Ohlins and it made no difference. :thumb2

great

thats great, i will ring them both tomorrow. if they fix it for that price, its goer... thanks for the advice guys...

Hmm. After 30000km/20000mls on bad Showa suspension I changed both front and rear to Wilbers. You CAN feel the difference with the new front, when trying out different damping settings.

hi johhnywave....what happen at the end??
unfortunately what I was afraid has happenned...my rear shock is leaking!!
on telephone communication before some time with EveryAcessory, the technitian overthere told me that the shocks from BMW are not repairable..I don't know...that was what I took as conclusion from our communication...
so...pleace keep us informed...

BTW...Sgt Bilco...you have changed only the springs or all the shocks to Hyperpro?? and if you changed only the springs, did you revalved /did any other modification on the shocks??
