Rear shock damping adjustment in-op

Hi all,
The damping adjusting screw on the rear shock of my 1100GS is just turning without bottoming out, both clockwise and anti clockwise. Anyone else come across this? Is it terminal? Shock still feels okay but I'm no expert,
