Disappointed today!

Planned my route yesterday to ride to lady bower reservoir today

Got on the bike at 08:00 am today and rode 2 miles and thought have i got a puncture? I can feel every bump.

Checked bike and realised no damping on the rear shock.

rode bike home slowly.

Bike done 16k miles, 4 years old this Sept. Phone call to BMW customer services tomorrow to see if they can help.

Glad I was local and not abroad. :(:(

My 14 plate GSA lost rear damping on two occasions while riding at 70mph.

I stopped, switched off and on again and it returned to normal.

I took it to BMW and they plugged it into their computer and could find no faults!

its definitely fooked

Sitting on the bike and bouncing you can hear it clonking

No oil loss as far as i am aware. - none in the garage. Shock is spotless

Both mine started leaking at 25K miles and I got offered a decent contribution from BMW - but I will still cheaper to get a set of wilbours.

Dont want to alarm you but I assume you know a set of ESA shocks from BMW are over £3K

No i did not:eek: I looked at the wilburs website. Do you have to change them in pairs? or can you just change the rear?

Wife not happy! bike has already had water pump, front headers replaced and lots of cosmetic items. See what tomorrow brings

Might have to consider 2nd hand route via eblag

If the oil hasn't leaked it's likely to be related to the electronics/adjustments as the mechanical parts (valves shims etc.) are pretty robust. Try cycling through all the options of damping etc. It might reset.

Touratech set is about £2.5k.

I have tried but it has not reset. I am going to disconnect the battery to see if the helps.

no joy. it clonks sitting on the bike and allowing the bike to come back to its normal ride height. cycling the different suspension mode makes no difference.
suspension feels very soft as if its just the spring doing the work.

I had the Same on my front shock, bmw replaced the unit & said "U've just saved £1400" my reply was at 1 year old I didn't expect it to fail

I saw one on ebay the other day reasonable price tho
