The Rear Swinging Arm Gaiter on my 2007 GS has a habit of becoming disengaged from the Swinging Arm at the Front. This happens nearly every time I wash the Bike. This leaves a gap where water and road crap can enter. Is this a common problem.

Had it happen a couple of times after the back end taken apart for work, each time the gaiter replaced under warranty would get it checked out at dealers.

Had mine changed under warranty. And they replaced the oil in the rear drive at the same time as well. Because they could easily do it, not because it needed it.

Thanks for the replies Guys, bike is in for a Rear Hub this week so they can have a look at it then. (can,t see just where you would attach a Tie Wrap tho Swissrob)

mike, to clarify do u mean the gaiter thats next to the gearbox or the gaiter thats next to the final drive??

if its the gearbox one, mine slipped off every now and then but a small tywrap at the forward edge and its fine.

Its the one at the Final Drive end Swissrob which just seems to rely on a poorly fitting "plug in" design (gaiter into the Swing Arm).

Degrease the swingarm then use a dab of clear silicon sealer, that should bond it into place.

Thanks Pukmeister, the Gaiter and Shaft Housing "is" covered with White Grease where the Gaiter should engage into the Swing Arm. Maybe this was causing it to "slip out". I,ll do as you advise, a good clean and silicon. Thanks again.

hi Mike,

sorry i didnt read your first post properly - thought u were talking about the very forward gaiter.

Im in the process of changing the oil in my FD and one of the items is a while grease to act as a sealant on the gaiter. I personally wouldnt remove it from the gaiter lip. The gaiter should have clips to hold it in position - are these broken???
