Rear Wheel Bearings.

Just put my GS Adv in for it's 18k service along with it's 1st MOT, guess what, it failed on the rear wheel bearings having excessive play. Not a happy bunny .
Can this be normal? 18k and the bearings are shot?
Dealer says that there does not seem to be a set time for them to go and that they have them go at varying mileages. One example he gave was one customer bearing replaced after 50k then 10k later they had gone again!
I've had the bike since last Oct and have not done anything too outrageous and only put on 4k.
Does anyone else have the same luck as me?!!

It's gonna be asked, so I'll start it off.
Did he say wheel brg as in final drive/crown wheel, or did he mean paralever brgs.

I'm told wheel bearings on final drive not the paralever bearing.

I suppose sods law steps in somewhere and you never know if the previous owner gave it a hard life.
You'll be doing a search then for brg replacement.

Dealer doing it, I havnt the time or eqmt for the job, and have to get it done before I go to Scotland in Sept.
