Another oddity has now cropped up !
Found several 1200's that are different
Going to be running off a batch specifically for the 1200's over the next couple of days.
Will be adding an option on the web site soon but in the meantime if you order one and want it for the 1200 either PM or e-mail me

Good point you've raised there, Popeye - I expect you are one of the first "customers" to actually try the tool - I certainly haven't yet - just put it straight in my 1100 tool tray!!

Wonder if anyone else has actually tried theirs?

Yep, tried using mine when i changed my tyre, but it didn't fit my 09 1200GSA.
So flagged it up with Jaws.

Should be fine for the 1100's and 1150's though.

Works great on the 1100 and the 1150 no probs at all..

The 1200 is the oddball but they will be available within a couple of days
Anyone who has already bought one for a 1200, pop it back to me ( or sell it on here to an 1100/1150 owner ! ) and I will get the 1200 version off to you post haste !! ( Was hoping to run them last night but the stainless bar on the rack is not the correct grade.. Proper stuff will be here on Monday and will be run on Tuesday )

Well, as this problem was playing on my mind, I decided to go out and actually try the widget.

I couldn't get it to work, either!

My 1100 has ABS ring, and a standard exhaust. As Popeye said, it seems far too long to allow the wheel to be got vertical - and then to slide onto the "bar".

I even tried it at the 3 oclock and 6 oclock positions - but neither position would allow the wheel to be got vertical - between the tyre hitting the exhaust, and the hub hitting the "bar".

I tend to think that it could do with being 40mm shorter - bearing in mind the threaded section seems to be longer than necessary - I reckon about a 10mm thread length would be ideal - on mine there is still a good section of thread showing with the tool fully screwed in - or at least far enough in to be able to remove it easily with a flat spanner when the wheel is in place.

As I see it, the "bar" only needs to be long enough to have about 20mm protruding, including the flats, with the wheel in place, to allow you to unscrew it with the flat 10mm spanner - or maybe I'm missing something here? Please discuss.

Not having a go at you, Jaws - this just seemed a better place to iron out any fixes needed - more heads to come up with ideas!!

Not a problem at all
Just pop it in the post and I shall get one of the new shorter ones out by return
I used my sons 1150 to check the first ones out and it worked great, but no good at all if they only work on some bikes and not others

The replacement shorter ones are already done and ready to be sent out

New to the world of the GS and had been thinking about throttle locks - only one I had found was the Kareoke (or something like that) for a price that drew sharp breath!

This product looks good and appears to be well engineered - just wondered if there is anyone who can offer first hand experience before I decide.

+1 for me...just starting to do my own servicing and the rear wheel is too heavy to hold and fit at the same time.

Mine just arrived in the post yesterday. Must say a big to Jaws for the service!. Can't comment on how it works due to the fouled up conditions, but I will say it's a lovely little bit of kit, very well engineered. Since the operating procedure is pretty basic, I can only see it working as well as it looks. Well done Jaws!
