Rear wheel play, Paralever adjustment, going in......

Why Confused?

Don't see the problem?
He now has play because the bearings which have been in a few years are worn. They only move in a limited arc so wear won't be even and any adjustment will only be a temporary solution.
So for somebody attempting the job for the first time and having to remove the pins to clean off Loctite it seems sensible/prudent to fit new bearings and learn the "feel" for setting the pre-load.
In a year or two he will then be able to check or adjust pre-load again if he wishes as adjusting pin is free of Loctite.
I don't see the point of trying to mess about with the old bearings for the sake of a few quid.
What's confusing with that? - only trying to help!

Adjusted Bearings

I adjusted the bearings on my RT a couple of weeks ago, all went well have covered about 800 miles since with no problems.

I followed the advice on here and removed the pin before re setting to the correct torque, I did use some standard lock-tight not the strong stuff that is recommended

It will be interesting now to see which theory is correct re how long this remedy will last, will I be putting in new bearings within 6000 miles or is this a good fix !!

By the way the bike is a 1999 R1100RT with 28.000 miles covered, great bike very underestimated which makes them a very good purchase.
