Got a 2008 GS and noticed a clunking going from closed throttle to positive throttle. Put it down to fatigue and sloppy throttle control. Put the bike on the centre stand, engaged 1st gear and measured the free play at a point in the centre of the tyre tread. I've got approximately 5.5 cm of rotational free play. Is this normal?

Thanks for the all the responses, I'll have to work on finesse in stop start traffic or drag a little rear brake to take up the designed in 'slack'. All part of the GS character.:thumb

Tryed it on mine 58 plate 5000 miles in first gear, slack from one way to the other is a good inch and a half on the very outside edge of the tyre, i think thats normal unless mines knacked too !!!
