Hi

Just checked the bike over before I ride down the M4 tomorrow, Bath to London.

One of the spokes on the rear wheel is loose and two nearby ones are slightly bent, they always have been.

The bike was fine the last time I did a long ride, but the two last short runs into town, it did not feel as plated as usual and I put that down to the awful road conditions. (no snow and ice)

The loose one is still seated in the rim, but the retaining bolt in the hub has gone.

Two questions.

1. Is it safe to ride at motorway speeds?

2. What is the quickest / cheapest way to fix it?

Many thanks

TT :)

i would remove it or cable tie it up so it doesnt flap around

and get it fixed soon as you can to stop any more damage.

unless there are any more than a couple of spokes loose, it should be alright in the short term.

Buy a spoke, nipple and grub screw from your favourite source of BMW parts. Install it.

JUst torque it so it sounds the same when you tap it with a spanner as the others. Don't change all 3 at the same time do one at a time otherwise you could untrue the wheel.

Do one at a time, its easy.
