I need a bag of some sort for short trips...
The W'lich & TT ones are silly money..
Anyone found another brand that fits and works well? Throw over ones would be good as they don't get in the way when getting on/off the bike... I would like these to fit without the rear seat on if poss?
TIA...

For sale and wanted section will be your friend.... If not today, then sometime soon, no doubt.

I suppose any water proof bag strapped on will work.. I just wanted something made for the job and secure...
I suppose a trip to Laguna in Maidstone is in order..

;) :) Travel in style eh??

You are going to Assen, with a load of ragged arsed motorcyclists. It will probabaly lash with rain. You are not meeting royalty.

I suppose any water proof bag strapped on will work.. .

I suppose you might just be right.

Now get on with the hugger fitting, it (may) keep some of the spray off.

I would try Hein Gericke in Maidstone before Laguna.

Not sure who stocks them but I use this type of thing http://www.traveldri-plus.co.uk/rucksacks.html when off camping. Chuck tent, sleeping bag, stoves etc. in the bag, roll the top for watertight seal then you just have the one bag to strap to the back.

I will be at Assen next week if the weather is good (i'm between contracts so don't need to book anything), I'll be camping in Groningen a few miles north but a much nicer town.

Enjoy the trip

Any old sports bag, wrapped in a bin bag, will do.

Just strap it / bungee it onto the back of the bike.

Nobody will mind.

Or one of the HG stuffa bags..... they'll have them in Maidstone. Can't see the one I bought for a fiver last year..... http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/index.php/cPath/150_66

Whatever happened to those plastic "Adidas" kit bags that smelled worse new than any rancid sports kit ever could?

Not going to Assen next week for Superbike, going to MotoGP in June... defo not camping this time.

Thanks for those suggestions...one of them will do the job...

Raggedy arsed....not in my group...1098, Blade and another Jap 1000 thingy...probably all in designer power ranger suits....except me...

If you want to come to London (by Tower Bridge) I will lend you an Ortlieb (fully 100% waterproof) bag. It opens like a conventional bag, so easier to use than the roll version.

It is as smart as smart thing.

I can lend you some good quality luggage straps, too.

Just bring them back, in one piece.

Thanks for the offer, but I won't be in that area before I leave...

Where can I get the luggage straps, rather than using bungie cords? Do HG do them?

Rok straps are the dogs danglies, I used for 2000 miles arouind the p
Pyrenees last summer and they were just fab!! http://www.rokstraps.com/ there is a guy that does them on the site but cant remember who? He is at the meets normally. and an ortleib bag or similar is fantastic and so much better than a top box. I use a diving one from aquatech but there are loads available ( the guy who does the Rok straps does these too )
Cheers,

Andy

if you need them quick get some thule ones from halfrauds. bought mine years ago and still ok. are you going to assen via eurotunnel / dover - calais ? camping or hotel ? be sure to go into assen town centre on the saturday night.

But surely, it's not how quickly you get there, but how much you enjoy the journey??;)

Thanks to all...

rossi46,
Yep, tunnel, then 370 miles by road....... Staying in a hotel nearby...Sat night is a must do I understand... bands playing etc, etc...

GO OUTDOORS

Camping / Sports Warehouse have some goog waterproof bags. Similar to the costly North Face Duffle Bags but a hell of a lot cheaper.

Buffalo Sports throwover panniers work a treat £60, well made, waterproof covers, bungies, carry straps, anti slip mat for rack or seat all in. Heat proof bottom but they sit high and dont touch the exhaust. Each to their own!:jibber
