Recall for gearbox output shaft

Got my letter dated 2 Dec 2014.
The DfT VOSA Notice (link above) is dated 13 June 2014.
The US article is dated 21 May 2014.

What have BMW been doing for the last 6 months?

Day one was working out how to fix the problem, the other 181½ days was how to do it as cheaply as possible.
