Not sure how wide spread this is but just got a letter today. Looks like a potential issue with the ABS modulator rubbing against the wiring harness.

Bike not killed me in the last 5,000 miles so will hopefully get me to Leisuretrail to check it over and keep me "Ready to Race" ;)

Mines a 2014 adventure r. I have not heard from KTM yet.

Me too, going to see if it can wait until the annual Service next spring.

Receiving the letter. Not my wires.;)

Won't be racing with no brakes.:P

I'm learning from the troll master.:D

I got the letter today, slightly annoying as my 1290SA was in for 9k service on Thursday of the previous week, dealer apparently found out about it on the Friday :blast

To add a bit of humour to the situation, a friend several years ago, whilst handing his bike in for a recall on what had been a bit of a lemon of a bike .
He asked to speak to the dealer principal and tipped him off that he had been approached by the head of customer service of the importer and asked to be a secret shopper and report back on his experience with the franchise.
Needless to say his bike got the full treatment and he got a goody bag when collecting his bike.
Smiley faces all round .

Got my recall on a '13 Adv R so I guess all years are potential affected

Are you completely stupid?

Yes, I bought a KTM.

Have I misread the letter, I thought it was saying wires could chaff and cause ABS failure - as in a warning light comes on and the ABS won't work - well I survived riding for 25+ years without ABS so figure I can probably ride it to the dealer next spring rather than hire a van and whizz right over to the dealer immediately.

If KTM had sent a couple of pics, correct routing and incorrect routing of wires, owners could then check themselves and decide whether they need to rush to the dealer immediately.

I've not heard of any of these failures before, so must be very rare, and as owners of older 1190s are also getting the letter I think it can wait until next service.

Who'd of thought it, KTM having a quality issue ;)

Got the letter.

Service due next month so I'll get it done then.

Reason for the recall (From the KTM forum)

A bike caught fire. The fire was caused by a permanent auxiliary feed to the rear of the bike rubbing on the ABS unit and causing a resistive short circuit down the braided brake hose to the rear master cylinder.
The recall is to check all cable ties are in place.

I did mine myself tonight.

There's some wires that run against a sharp edge of the ABS unit.

Couple of cable ties pulled them away from the edge. 10min job (plus 10mins to retrieve lost screw dropped into rhs side panel:blast)

There's some pics on the UK KTM forum of what's what.

Sorted :thumb
