I had a phone call from my local dealer the other day, apparently there are a couple of update/mods.

1. Software update
2. Oil restrictor. When I asked they were non committal however they did say that it was something in the head.

Anyone had the same recall or any ideas what the upgrades are?

By the way mine is a very early (March) TE

What does the software update address?

That's strange coincidence.

I just had mine back from the 600 mile service, and the throttle response is VERY different.

All the sensitivity at small throttle openings has gone.
Even in dynamic mode, it's very much easier now to ride slowly through traffic etc,.

Prior to the service, I would switch to rain mode in traffic to soften the throttle response because of this sensitivity. Now, I leave it in dynamic...

They have definitely changed something - I felt it straight away, as soon as I pulled away - a big improvement.

Also, ( and I'm not sure that this is linked) the clutch is quite different too, it's more progressive. Before it was a bit sensitive, and felt like it was getting a tad dry and grabbing, now it's smooth and progressive. But this could be the change of oil??

Surely they can't alter the clutch with a software update!!!

Could be just combination of oil change/throttle response makes things feel better....

As Nutty always quotes the bike with "million miles of testing" now having software updates blooding good testers NOT.

Mines in for new tyres tomorrow, so I'll ask about this software update.:thumb

The "oil restrictor" was a change made (recall) only on the first units built. In fact it was done prior to delivery of bikes along with a cramping lock made to both forks. Later, these mods started to be done at the factory.

About the software recall I ma not aware... sorry.

I spoke to my dealer today who stated there is no emergency update to be done but may be an update of some sort but would only get done the next time the bike is in for a service.

I got the software update today while my tyres were being fitted.:thumb I can't tell the difference. There wasn't anything wrong with it when I took it in this morning anyway.:blagblah:D

Doesn't it have something to do with the «memory» of the Enduro pro mode, this software update? I know they did it after delivery of my LC at the end of March. Then, and only then, did my dealer give me the Enduro pro plug.

Anakee 3's:thumb No more NEXT for me:JB

Be sure to let's us know how you get on with them compared to the Next's.

I'm heading for Conti's only because I've had them before, on my old 1200.

I would be interested in the grip and wear rate of the Anakee's.

Did you change both?

Yep, I changed both. There seems to be a bit more road noise up to about 30mph, but I may be imagining it, as I read it on here.:P I only managed about 120 miles on them in the afternoon, but they're nicely scrubbed in, and ready for some fun.:D

like to hear what you think of them

I don't have any handling or grip issues with the next, but they do seem to wear out pretty quick, my rear is about had it now with 5000 miles on it.
I shall be interested to hear how long the Anakee's last. I shall fit one more rear T Next then will be looking to change both for either the Anakee or Conti trail attacks.

Yep, my Next was shot at 5k. Tourance admitted that they used a softer compound on the initial batch, so there was no way I was going to give them any more money.

My rear Tourance Next lasted 3200 miles.

A fast ride back from Nice using motorways tore the middle right out of the tyre. Front like brand new.

Metzeler have now made them dual compound, so hopefully the replacement will last a bit longer.

I did say that I wasnt sure if the clutch change was linked to the engine tweak....
I suspect that the oil change is the reason why it feels a lot better than it did.

But there was a definite improvement in the throttle sensitivity while slow riding. It wasn't a problem as such - it was noticeably less sensitive and smoother after the service.

The new oil has a much redder colour - does anyone know what oil these have in from new?

If it was a thinner "running in" oil, then it could well explain why the clutch feels nicer now, and the bike is also a tad quieter (less tappetty) perhaps???

Either way, I'm even happier with the bike - absolutely loving the extra power over the old 1150 - now that running-in is over, ive been exploring the rev range above 5000 rpm....

Getting used to the conventional indicators and the sat nav wheel - still prefer the old indicator switches though...

I havent used the car since I bought the bike 3 weeks ago...
Even went shopping on it - get funny looks with a 24 pack of toilet roll bungeed on the back!
