Recalls and enhancements before delivery

I have a new R1300 GS TE being delivered this month (January 2025). It's remaining stock that my dealership had in storage. My question is, is it reasonable to request that all the recalls/enhancements are carried out when the bike has its PDI and before it is delivered to me? I'm not sure of the manufacture date of the bike so appreciate that not all recalls maybe relevant but surely it makes sense for this to be completed whilst on the bench in the workshop? My dealership keeps glossing over my question as much as ignoring it altogether!!
 
Not unreasonable at all. If they are glossing over things now i don't think things will improve once they have your brass.
 
I believe you can check for recalls and updates. There’s no reason they wouldn’t do them if required.
 
I don't think the dealers do the pdi , but I'd expect them to do any recalls.

Indeed

It would make sense to do any recalls before delivery, if any are actually needed, there are only two possible recalls I believe, the right hand switch gear and the starter relay

I don’t think either of them take long but maybe they don’t have the parts :nenau
 
A "recall" is always related to a safety issue and all must be done before delivery. Recalls on the luggage must be done before the luggage can be released. All relevant software updates should be done before delivery.
PDIs are performed by the dealer after the bike is uncrated
 
Just how many recalls has the 1300 had ? It’s only been out a while . Think I’ll keep my 1250 as like to ride it when I choose to , rather than in between the dealer fiddling with it

It's amazing how readily available information can be twisted and misinterpreted into something completely out of context

I wasnt twisting anything. Simply asking how many recalls there have been . It might be readily available to you and I’m guessing you have a 1300, given that you jumped down my throat . It’s no wonder some of us don’t post much on here . Back to lurking .
 
Had a few software updates
 
They don’t have to do any updates. It’s perfectly normal to pdi and address on first service. Only recalls that affect safety must be done in advance.

Particularly with the 1300 there have been numerous updates dealt with the next time the bike comes in.

My second 13 is in tomorrow for the first service and will be getting new switchgear and a software update relating to the adaptive suspension as a minimum.

My local BMW dealer told me that they do not perform the PDI, done by the distribution centre, in which case the dealer pays more for the bike. New bikes can be supplied more quickly which frees up workshop time for paying customers at shorter lead times with higher hourly rates, hence more profitable overall.

Apparently some dealers have more preferential terms on the bikes from BMW but do their own PDI.
