Elvie has been interested in digital photography for the past 18/12 or so, and I've been using my HD camcorder fairly often of late, so we are looking to replace our rather full external hard drives ( 4 in total ). We are thinking of going for 2 terrabyte units, possibly a pair so we can have a paired backup. Until now the transfer rate of external drives hasn't really been an issue, but with the increasingly large size of files we generate, I'm starting to wonder whether we should look at the speeds, but in all honesty even though I'm a fairly clued up user of a computer, my knowledge of these sort of matters is limited. I was hoping some peeps would be able to suggest suitable disk drives at reasonable costs. Many thanks for your help.

Go for a network drive, wired in to your router at home? That way - you can access it from any machine on the network.

Western Digital do a World-book which I think is around £130 for a 1Tb model.

It also has a USB socket in it so that you can piggy-back a second drive onto it.

Do a search of Amazon and WD's site for the spec/price.
