recomend me a self inflating mattress

Sadly it doesn't pack away small but it's no real problem when strapped across the back of your panniers.
The biggest problem was finding a dry bag long enough to fit the mattress,but Les at Traveldri came to the rescue.
I spent a couple of nights in the lakes at the end of last month,one night it got to -3, I can't give this mattress enough praise,it's warm and I kid you not it's as comfy as my bed.

I bought one in the end and used it at the BMF. It's quite large but still light
 
Good thread, I'm in need of a new air bed. Sometimes I use 2 self-inflating mats as 1 isn't comfy enough these days. Took a standard air bed last weekend & spent every night pumping it back up!

Considered the Exped down beds but have never actually seen one inflated. Impressed with the mega bed but it could be a bit big for my 2 man tent.

Agreed with Alan that a picnic under the mattress helps keep in the warmth. I roll mind across the width of the tent so I don't sit on a cold tent floor to get dressed.

Have a word with Les at Traveldri he sorted me a price as good as anywhere.

Don't forget it's a wide mat and you'll need a long dry bag,but Les can sort you with a bag for £24.

Well that went well...
Used my new Exped last weekend in Wales and it couldn't hold air for 2 hours before dumping me onto the hard ground... 2 nights of little sleep... :mad:
Not impressed!

Have you contacted the seller? Bad crack that I've had a couple of cheap ones do the same and its no fun

That's a bit of a worry as I've just bought two Synmat LW 7's and due to use them for the first time in a couple of weeks. Do you know why it leaked?

Like STUBBS says, blow 'em up before you go and leave them for 48hrs, if you have something heavy to put on them even better (nothing sharp like a set a drawers though... :thumb) to simulate your body weight.
Sooo wish I had done this with my 7LW... :blast

I have to say that before it lost the air it was very comfy and snug, just right when it's raining and blowing outside... :sleep:sleep

Just wondered why it leaked:nenau Was it a manufacturing fault, damage, dodgy valve?

If you fill up up an air bed when the ambient temp is high then it will lose pressure during a cold night. Could it have been that? Just curious having spent quite a few quid on two of them. And I did test them as soon as I got them :D
 
Wish it was as simple as that, but it went flat every few hours during the night and I has to keep pumping it back up, and it did go from firm to almost zero so that's a bit extreme for air temp changes.
Must be a manufactor issue.
 
if its of any interest i`ve just bought a thermarest luxurylite mesh cot, you can also put your self inflating mattress on top of it for even more comfort , and i can say no more than its the dogs bollocks, have a look at one a them.
