in or near Portsmouth.

I'll be docking at 06:15 on the 13th of August and will be gagging for a full fry-up. Not a namby pamby Little Chef Plate'O'Vomit, but a full on lead balloon style heart attack on a plate.

So........?

Gunwharf quay (a shopping centre thing) is right next to some ferry docks. Has a couple of restaurants in there. Maybe worth looking there.

Thanks, but it opens just a smidgen too late. I need to be on my way by 07:30.

Then try google maps.

1. Look up Portsmouth
2. Click on the pointer on the map
3. Select "search nearby"
4. type in cafe
5. Bingo list of cafes around portsmouth

Won't they be serving full English brekkies on the ferry? :nenau

Probly, but I doubt I'd be in the mood at 5am. Anyway, it'd not be as tasty as a greasy greased up corner cafe breakfast. I'm obviously a bit picky about this, but fry-ups are thin on the ground here.

caff

There's a bikers caff in the car park on the hill overlooking pompey - by the old fort. No good in the rain though as no inside seating

Not sure which way you're heading when you leave Portsmouth, but this place is very popular, and has the added benefit of being on a great biking road between Pompey and Alton;

They don't open until 9AM during the week though - which might be a bit too late for you?

Where have you got to goto? Why will you be in such a hurry?

I go here when visiting my son. Wetherspoons pub just around the corner from the ferry port. Does not open until 9am though - excellent breakfast which has been recognised with an award.

There are a few trad. greasy spoons on The Hard (next to Portsmouth Harbour railway station). Not sure if they open at 7am mind, as I'm still in bed at that time of day when in Portsmouth.

There are also some at the junction of Commercial St & Lake Road as it is where the buses stop in the city centre

Tipperary. I have to catch a ferry at Fishguard at 11:30, and I've some shopping to do along the way (Touratech is on the route, as is M&P and Go Outdoors).

Thanks for the replies guys, between them I anticipate a full stomach and a feeling of happy contentment.
