I installed the BMW OEM head light guard on my r1300 gs easy to fit and can be unclipped fast to clean the headlight if required.. I know BMW do a OEM same design headlight guard for the r1300 gsa model.. looks slightly different for the bottom 2 fasteners can't see it being much difference "if any" to install..

The OEM headlight protector is solid and easily taken on and off, but it is quite ugly. The mounting arms glued to the clear plexi from the back show large ugly patches viewed from the front. It is considered an enduro part and not recommended for street

Ugly.. well That's a matter of opinion.. handy thou.. for anyone who doesn't like the headlight:DDI don't mind the look of the headlight or oem headlight guard.. it's there to prevent damaged not for looks.. it dose state "not for road use" but the headlight guard dose not in any way obstruct the beam of the running lights/headlight or high beam.. it didn't stop the main dealer from installing other oem headlight guards for general use.. either it be off road or road use.

it's states available in the bmw r1300 gsa configurator with the rest of the accessories list.. so most likely on back order.

I was a bit daunted at first but the beak is quite easy to remove on the standard 1300 GS, there is a Touratech USA video on YouTube. A trim tool off ebay is handy for the two black plastic plugs at the front underside that look like torx/hex heads, you need to prize under them and then they just lift out.

Re the new GSA, these guys pull one to bits and pull the beak area off pretty easily - didn't get to the part where they put it back together though!

If you’re not going off road then I wouldn’t bother. They all look a bit daft.

I agree all headlights look better with-out guards.. but as far as headlights go think the bmw oem guard is the better option due to the fact it's a perfect fit/ easy unclipped/excellent quality.. in this case it was a dam pigeon.. but there's more chance of a stone getting flicked up from a car/lorry/pogo stick..:ROFLMAO: than on off road.. seen a clip on you tube where he was hit by a pigeon it not only smashed his headlight but also demolished the fixing cowling.. total cost over £1,500 plus cost of cowling and labour if you can't replace the headlight and cowling your self.. check this clip out or fast forward to 14:00 it may just change your mind..

you've got better eyesight than me I can't say I even notice it, have had a car windscreen go with a stone on the motorway so err on the side of caution with it costing what it does. A lot of people think the headlight looks daft full stop!

I've had 2016 1200 gs/2018 1200 gsa/2021 1250 gsa and for a change the 2023 r1250 rs.. and now back to the gs with the new r1300gs triple black.. the first accessories to be installed are Rad guards/fenda extenda/mud slinger and headlight guard.. you could be lucky and not have a stone flipped up through the rad/headlight.. but a mate of mine needed to replace his radiator due to a stone being flipped up.. I also at to have car bonnet resprayed on a 3 month old car due to a stone being flipped up and last year at to replace my windscreen.. I did see that stone flying towards me but no time to get out of the way. either the resprayed bonnet or the windscreen cost together was loose change considering the cost of new r1300 gs headlight plus fixing cowl not to mention the stealers labour cost.. As far as I'm concerned the front of the r1300 gs could look like "bull dog chewing a wasp":DD so just as well I think the bmw oem headlight guard looks fine.. which is a bonus :) I rather not than splash out for a new headlight as The r1300 gs is expensive enough.. last thing I need is the cost of a replacement headlight..

I assume you mean no excess? my excess is £600 not to mention the inconvenience if bike is not rideable.. also likely dealers won't have the headlight in stock due to the holding stock price so how long is the bike of the road:( also got a headlight guard on my 2024 speed twin 1200.. so the small cost of a headlight guard is still the better choice for me even thou the speed twin headlight is much cheaper to replace(y)
