I'm looking for a helmet camera that will obviously take bursts of video, but are there any that will take decent quality stills?:nenau

I want to be able to just press a button if I see anything interesting on my travels, rather than stop the bike every time I want to take a picture.

Help please!:thumb

it's not that simple all helmet cameras have really wide angle lenses, whatever you see will appear tiny in the subsequent picture. unless your using the lens distortion to add an effect...

plus most don't have view finders so framing came be a problem... as most are designed for filming rather than stills you only get a pictures that 1920x1080 or smaller.

best to have two units that do a single job well each, than one which does two jobs badly!

If I had to choose the Gopro is very good with features but I get lost in the menu from a simple filming point I like the contour.

as a carry about stills camera any of the fuji's are nice about 100 nikka should see you the right side of easy and good... or if your right into it the Canon G10 is high in features.

hope that heps

Oh and once you have a camera you also need a box of grip (brackets, holding platforms, grips) the choice is either Ram Mounts ask ram-man on here about it.... of Manfrotto Grip kit as used in films which is more money...

HTH

I use a Contour GPS, it shoots 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps.

Decent battery life 1:30-2 hours tracks your speed and positioning and takes a great shot. Like the other poster said you cant go wrong with the GoPro HD either i just didn't want a small brick attached to the helmet.

Have a look at the videos i have made with it.

I splashed out and bought the POV HD, great camera, can take quality stills and best of all in my opinion is the 'Loop' mode. This mode is in constant recording but only saves a loop when the button on the remote is pressed. This loop can be set from 30secs to 30 mins, I have mine set on 1 min. When the button is pressed, it saves the loop in the min(button pressed) and the previous min. then the following min. So you get 3 mins of film and with the saved first min, you do not loss the round the corner 'surprise' (Clear as mud ???)
Also records on on/off mode via the remote (which is waterproof and fixed to the inside of the LHS hand guard - easily operated with index finger)..
