After a recent ride in the wet I’ve decided my 2007 R1200GS needs a Mudsling. However, I don’t want to spend the amount required to buy the genuine article. All of the alternatives listed on eBay seem to say they’re for 2013 - 2017 models. Has anyone bought an eBay alternative for a 2007 or similar and, if so, could they recommend a seller please?

Cheers!

Have you considered advertising to see if anyone has a genuine one they no longer need? FWIW I bought one of the ebay alternatives advertised to fit the GSA on the chance it would fit my lowered LC, but it looked like it was going to foul the swinging arm so I bought the genuine one instead. It fitted perfectly and is both longer and wider than the alternative so I guess you get what you pay for.

Thanks littleade, for the money I was just going to take a chance - but you’re right, I’m probably better off seeing if I can find a used one, or biting the bullet and buying the genuine article.

Thanks - I’ll go for the ad. In the meantime I can always vandalise the wife’s car mats...

I was thinking of purchasing the same. Is it any good, I’ve heard report of mudslingers rubbing on the tyres, especially on GSAs?

It fits and works well. I had a ‘proper’ mudslinger on my last GSA (but forgot to take it off selling). This Chinese version is almost identical and works just as well. I heard they don’t fit bikes with lowered suspension

My GSA has a genuine Mudsling. It fits no problems. Helicopter tape on frame protects the paint.

Oh, I have the lowered suspension model. Mind you for £20 it might be worth a gamble and at that price I don’t mind if I have to cut it.

A good hugger should be the best option but they are all too short so dirt still gets sucked forwards.

Ignore all the cool stuff we never see on bikes even now. Just how the Britten hugger goes right over the wheel.
