Recommend me a Mudsling “alternative”

Oh, I have the lowered suspension model. Mind you for £20 it might be worth a gamble and at that price I don’t mind if I have to cut it.

I too have a lowered GS (not GSA) and when I tried the ebay version

Looking down from the top it looked like it would foul the horizontal part of the swing arm behind the shock when I tried it on mine. The proper mudsling sits further back and slides down between the horizontal part of the swinging arm that sits behind the shock and the tyre and is also wider so overall provides better protection. Whether you think it's worth the extra is another matter!

Buy the best - cry only once.

(Machineart Moto might stay in business too!)

Thanks, looking at some posts, it appears that the genuine mudsling can foul the tyre/swing arm.

I’m going mill it over before I get the bike out early next year, thinking that £20 is worth a gamble at the moment though.

Mine is a non ESA on an ESA bike. No problems with swing arm or ESA.
The fancy carbon hugger rattled on the swing arm but that hardly mattered as I sold it for not stopping the crud.

I thought that was an issue where some folks had fitted a mudsling and a hugger. My genuine mudsling is nowhere near to fouling anything.

Wording from Nippy Normans site. Basically unless you're fitting knobblies on a GSA it'll fit :beerjug:

Fits:
R1200GS LC 2013 on and 2017 on
(including factory lowered versions)
R1200 Adventure LC 2014 on and 2017 on
(including factory lowered versions)
****************************

So fits ALL years of the liquid cooled R1200GS and Adventure from 2013 INCLUDING factory lowered versions. Fits with or without ESA. Fits GS LC with all tyre including Conti TKC80's but clearance with the same tyres is very tight on the Adventure LC.
****************************
MudSling fits with all OEM fitment street biased dual sport tyres, but not all knobblies. The GSA has the least amount of clearance available because of its longer travel suspension and knobblies do not fit at all.
Tyres we know that fit:
GS LC:
Standard Fitment and other Dual Sport: Metzeler Tourance Next; Michelin Anakee 3, Continental Trail Attack, Continental TKC70
Knobblies - Continental TKC 80; customer feedback tells us Hidenau K60 Scout also works
Adventure LC
Standard Fitment and other Dual Sport: Metzeler Tourance Next; Michelin Anakee 3, Continental Trail Attack, Continental TKC70
Knobblies - None.
