Recommend me a tyre guy

Unfortunately I have picked up a nail and need to replace my rear tyre. I currently have Pirelli Scorpion trails and would like to replace like with like but can I find them anywhere? Nope.

I should image I would be able to get them via a dealer but that I would also have to pay a premium and a fitting fee. National tyres don't supply them and I can't find any on the internet to order.

I would appreicate any recommendations on where I might be able to find/order/fit them please. If I cannot get hold of one would I get away with a mixed pair?

Try Watling Tyres although not all locations do bike tyres.

As for mixing tyres ... I would enquire with a dealer.

Watling's main bike branch I think is Catford, London. Too far for you to travel but give them a call for advice. I'll let you look up the number.

I used Universal Tyres in Croyden a few times.Ride in/out service and the price was ok

you could

order a pair of tourances from Busters and then get a local fitter to put them on, or if you venture to the London area FWR in Kennington are very good and do a ride-in, ride out job.

watling tyres

i was in watlings in swanley last week, they supply and fit bike tyres, but cant balance gs wheels poor show.They reckon they dont need it,yeah right.

£225 all in, watlings quoted £247.

I know you can buy them on ebay for around £150, but the above way was quick and simple.

i said that to them too, ive been to catford myself numerous times, its just the guvnor wont buy them a balancer for swanley.
They managed to balance my scooter wheels though, they said they dont need balancing, i said it does when the blinkin thing does 95mph.

Thanks for the heads up. The guy on the phone at Guildford Tyres did let me know they had moved. As you say their website has them at the new - or main - base.

The replacement tyre only took 24 hrs to arrive. I'll get it fitted on Sat morning so I'll report back on the service.

The only advice I've had is that you should keep your tyres pumped up.
