Been using Hein Gericke gortex summer gloves for the last 3yrs. After daily use they've finally faded from black to grey and gone from waterproof to non-waterproof. The fact that my thumb pokes out the end doesn't help.

So I've finally come to the conclusion that some replacements are in order. Being a bloke, I decided to order another pair of exactly the same. No hassle procurement. Unfortunately HG no longer make the gloves.

So please recommend me a decent pair of summer gloves. Requirements:

-Thin gloves that provide feel.
-Gortex or equivalent liner
-Good protection, prefer leather with knuckle guards.

I've got the BMW ones that I have found to be very good. Did have some Triumph gloves but the waterproof liner pulled out when your hands got a bit hot and sticky. Couldn't get the liner back into the fingers!

Tuareg

I bought some Hein Gericke Tuareg Gloves last year and spent three weeks riding around Norway in the rain without a drop getting through. Also rode them a couple of saturdays ago in a torrential downpour and again not a drop. They're Gorex lined and I seem to remember being pleased as they weren't expensive. If they still make them definately worth considereing or somethig similar.

I've got a pair of Halvarsons which I've been pleased with. Not sure of the model though.

I'd be wary of BMW summer rain gloves not very comfortable and mine leak at the end of the thumbs, other people i've met have said the same, variable quality.

Agree.. BM Summer Rain are made from the same stuff as tea bags..

The new Hein Gericke Goretex Xtrafit are erally comfortable and very waterproof.
They've got a long and short cuff version.
I went for the short cuff and they're great when you pull your sleeve over them. I do find I get cold wrists in the depths of winter with them (heated grips keep the handies warm though).

Your other option is to be a cheeky buggar and send them back to Goretex as they've got a 5 year Guarantee!!

Just to hijack this topic.
I have short fingers - can anybody recommend any short finger gloves?
I have looked at female gloves but the hand bit is too slim for me.

Some of the best summer gloves you can buy... Elkskin Roper :thumb

Certainly the toughest...

Made for cowboys to wrestle with steers and fix barbed wire fences... but no street cred when riding a BMW cos they look like gardening gloves

Not water proof either... but then yer skin is :augie

While an my recent alpine holiday bought some goretex summer gloves from Held [good stuff generally] I believe the model was called raindrop :ymca Despite the name, they are excellent, nice leather, very comfortable with good feel. Highly recommended :thumb2

they look like they'd come straight off in a crash. hard to tell without seeing them (or crashing in them) i suppose.

i just wear rallye 2's & get wet. they dry quite quickly and there's no liner to get stuck on. if it's colder i wear Racer "waterproof" kangarooskin gloves. they leak eventually + you get hung up in the lining trying to put them on with wet hands, or if they are wet, but i still like them.

They were never designed for motorcycling Cookie, but they do press stud around the wrist.

In truth I mostly use my Rallye II gloves as well... working on the principle that my skin is a goretex layer... it lets the sweat out but not the rain in
