Sometimes here, sometimes there...
preparing for a big trip this summer. The fairly narrow cuffs on my choice of riding jacket and rain jacket mean that my usual go-to summer waterproof gloves, Rukka Virium, are a bit of a faff to get on.

On the lookout for a decent (ie reliable) waterproof, non-insulated glove with a short cuff. Prefer non-leather and laminated liner but open to suggestions.

What have you tried/got that you like and rate?

TIA...

Having spent a long time searching for the answer to this very question i went for Klim Adventure

However i got through 3 pairs under warranty because the Gore grip stuff kept pulling out with my hands

So

I have a pair of Virium like you and despite it being a faff getting the cuffs sorted ( i have the same issue) these are the best waterproof gloves i have ever found.

Having said all that

My solution these days particularly in Spain is i just stick with my superbly vented Klim Badlands gloves and get wet hands for the duration of the shower. if its going to piss it down for a long time then i bugger about with the viriums

Hope that helps although i doubt it as im basically saying dont bother and save the money :D

May I add when it rains my hands are still bone dry, I use Nitrile latex gloves underneath, chuck em when they wear out, get boxes of 50 from Amazon. No issues with sweaty hands neither.
Keep a couple pair in pocket...On short trips.
Use them mainly for working on oily parts etc. Mechanic Nitrile latex gloves pack of 50 - £7.00 Amazon

I have the Klim adventure gloves, about 3 years old now and I haven’t had a problem with them at all, and I use them a lot.

Mrs Berin did have the lining pulling out issue, took them back for an exchange and the new ones have also been fine.

I'm with you but use the Klim Induction gloves.

Another vote for the Klim Adventure GTX gloves. I've tried many other types over the years and this one trumps them all. I get they're not what you wanted as being laminated & leather.

It's very waterproof, fits well, wears/lasts well, operates well as a waterproof unlined glove for the warmer times of the year. Think my first pair is coming up on 3 years, and still going strong. i even bought a second pair as a back up pair for wet trips!

Pretty sure Rukka do the Virium with short cuffs. Not sure what they are called but I have seen them.

In summer, where you might have a downpour when on tour, I have a choice of three pairs of gloves:

A. Rukka mesh gloves, AFT Air Flow, over which I can put a very light Dianese over glove

B. Rukka Force Air, ditto

C. Rukka Virium

I’ll either take A and C or B and C.

Glove C, is not much use to you, if you don’t like the cuff, with your summer jacket. Me? I’d go to somewhere like Infinity or Sportsbike Shop and look at all the many gloves on display, taking my jacket with me. Why? Because what suits one bod and their jacket / hands / arms, might well not suit me.

I can recommend Infinity.
Lots of gear in stock and same price as sportsbike shop.

Personal opinion here:

I do not think that there are better gloves out on the market than Held. They started their business with manufacturing gloves and slowly over decades moved into other garments.

This particular glove is short cuff, does come in short, regular and long finger version, as well as you usual palm sizes from Small to 3XL.

I have a non goretex version and love it. I also have now 7 year old Held Air’n’Dry dual chamber goretex gloves. Both are long finger versions. Love them.

Had Rukka Virium gloves, but just like @RedRick Esq. had issues with Klim, I had 3 pairs of these too, all replaced under warranty for same reason, lining pulling out the glove. I’ve sold my last pair on here, as I got fed up with them.

Hot tip 1. If bods have a problem with the liner pulling out, making it difficult to put the glove back on; try inserting the clutch or front brake lever, into the finger. It’s often, with a little bit of patience, reasonably easy to push / jiggle the liner back into place.

Hot tip 2. If you have a glove where you think / know it’ll happen, gently grip the top of the troublesome finger(s) as you pull your hand back. Prevention is better than cure.

It is this glove it essentially a mesh summer glove and not waterproof at all.

Will be trying few over glove options. Like these:

Some even have a wiper build in.

I’ll have a look at a pair of Rukka gloves in my garage. I have an odd feeling I may have something pretty similar, but cannot see the glove on the Infinity website.

At long last, I have remembered to look.

The Rukka glove on the right is short cuffed and not waterproof. The Rukka glove on the left is longer cuffed (it fits well under the sleeve / cuff of my Rukka jacket, even so) and of a similar construction.

The glove did’t have a name on the label but you might well be able to identify it from the numbers.
