My 1150GS had got to 115k and apart from standard service items and tyres, had never had anything replaced except one wheel bearing, one final drive bearing (of course!) and the brake and clutch hoses. It was getting temperamental and somewhat troublesome and after it broke down on me for the third time I decided something needed doing. I took the bike over to mikeyboy at Overland & Classic near Melton Mowbray and left it with him for as long as he needed it, to go through everything and repair/replace whatever needed doing. This ended up including new clutch, gearbox rebuilt with new bearings and seals, paralever bearing, swingarm bearing, front wishbone joint, airbox and air intake, bolts on fuel filter housing replaced, throttle bodies rebuilt, ad a full service.
Not only did the bike come back a damn sight cleaner than it has been for many years, riding it feels like the day I bought it - really made me realise how loose it had become. For much less than it would have cost me to replace the bike with another GS I have got mine back and ready for the next 100k. many thanks mike - heartfelt recommendation from me for anyone who needs their bike working on.
