Hi,

New here so please be gentle...your help is most appreciated.

Primary Requirements:

Comms between rider and pillion - activated by voice
Connection to GPS (Tom Tom Rider 2)
Connection to iphone for music / playlists etc
Connection to iphone for voice activated calling
Music to be shared (or not) between rider and pillion
Compatible with Schuberth C3 lids
All works with earplugs (Alpine)
Short charge time but long availability

Secondary Requirements:

Comms with another rider or 2 (although 8 would be great - I know!)

Constraints

I dont really want to clamp something to the side of the helmet.

Ive looked at the SRC BT and Autocom wired but there are inconsistencies in the information Ive read (not here but elsewhere).

For example, the pillion may not be able to hear the music dialled in by the rider on the SRC unit.

The sound quality of the SRC speakers may be be that good, although when tested they sounded reasonably decent to me. Sound quality is a priority for me (as it probably is for everyone) as I have a pair of Ultimate Ears Pro 10's for daily use at work (not the custom moulded version).

Your help is most sincerely appreciated..

THanks in advance.

I have to say that I am in total awe of the advances made in micro-electronics that allow a Scala Rider etc to mimic the results available from a wired system like Autocom.

If you are riding in a large group, then I believe radios are the best option for communication. Every Bluetooth system seems to run on different protocols.

Then the world splits into 2 camps - those that have reached the age of enlightenment and have moved to BT and others like my good self, who don't mind wires and don't want to worry about the remaining charge in a BT headset. The Autocom and the radio both run on 12V from the bike. In fact I have also a scooter with a spare Autocom full Bike-to-Bike, Rider-to-Pillion, DAB Radio set-up. I just plug in my headset and go. There are also 3 pillions with their 3 helmets to consider as well - so the non-BT solution works well for me.

Whichever way you go, don't buy over the internet unless you know what you're doing. Go to the shop with all your gubbins - IPhone, mobile phone(s), IPod, radio etc and do not leave the premises until you have tried out the solution. Any half-decent outlet realises that this a significant investment.

Good luck!

John
