I'm due to pick up the Interceptor next week; I've chatted with the dealer this morning about having an alarm/immobiliser fitted, he says if I get the one I want they will fit for me.

Have any of you Interceptor owners out there had one fitted? Any particular recommendations? I want one that is insurance approved and will help to bring the cost down.

Doesn't it already have a FF immobiliser? I found the FF alarm on my 2016 GS to be useless TBH and when insuring my bikes unless it was specified as a requirement by the insurer both the alarm or tracker that was fitted to my 2018 GS made little or no difference to the premium (The tracker subscription was nearly as much as my premium without it!). I'd ask what reduction I'd get first before paying to have either fitted to your bike. Do you have a decent security chain, ground anchor and disc locks and a cover if you're going to be leaving it outside?

Speaking as the owner of an Interceptor I can only ask who the fuck do you think wants to pinch it :nenau

Indeed. When out and about, I would expect A to want to chain her bike to your Interceptor as it makes for a decent substitute for a boat anchor

Hi Ade, you are right, I specified an alarm when filling in the insurance details on a well know comparison site and the premium was only reduced by just £10. Hardly worth fitting a £350-400 alarm for that. The bike is locked up in a garage overnight with a car parked up to the door and when I'm out and about on it I won't be leaving it for long periods out of sight. So, I have decided to not bother with an alarm, £350 will put a lot of petrol in the tank.

Thanks all for your input.

BMW fitted the datatool stealth tracker to my 2018 1200GS FOC. It was nothing but a PITA TBH, I was getting calls in the middle of the night from their monitoring centre to say my bike had moved and every time I went to check guess what it was exactly where I left it, like you being blocked in by my car. It drained the battery too no matter what Datatool say as my optimate was often changing when I went into the garage and once disconnected it went back to the same as my previous GS and rarely did a charge cycle. I asked the dealer if they wanted me to reconnect it before I traded it in and they declined the offer as they said they were often experiencing bikes with flat batteries in their showroom with the tracker fitted. If you couple that with the fact they put the tracker unit in the same easy to access location that a scroat with a torx bit on a driver could access in around a minute it was all a bit pointless.
