Hi, apart from not being able to spell immobiliser, I also ride an R1150R :augie but as such a good source of fantastic information I'm hoping one of you guys can help me.

My 1150R is a 2002 model fitted with a BMW alarm, when i bought he bike it came without instructions for the alarm.

Whilst I can get it to work I'm not able to 'fine tune' the settings or even understand what the 2nd button is for on the remote. Sometimes the motion alarm works, other times it doesn't. When I arm it it beeps x2 with the same tone, when i dis-arm i have x1 beep followed by a lower pitch x1 beep.

What i'm really after is a link to the instructions, but even the model number would be a start to understanding how it works.

Hope you can help.

Stu

When I briefly owned an 1150 with the factory alarm the manual for the alarm was the same size as the riders handbook, perhaps motorworks can help you ?

Alarm

I take it the alarm or the fob has a name on it . If not you will have to find out the make then google it and you should get the instructions. :thumb

Hi Bela, It's a BMW alarm. I have looked on the web and can find instructions for the 'latest' version and although similar the functionality does not correspond to the aspects I have 'worked out' for myself so far.

Thanks for your reply Stewart, I will see what Motorworks say tomorrow.

I can answer one, I can answer one...

Ayup. 2nd button is for when the alarm is going off: Pressing it shuts it up, but it remains.
If you cancel with main button (again, when it's going off), you'd have to re-arm.

thanks DutchBryn :clap it slowly becomes clearer. Perhaps you know why sometimes the motion sensor works and sometimes it doesn't ?

My 2005 GSA seems to have the same alarm, it also does not seem to work on movement. It self arms if you leave it or you can press the button to set it. I would also like any info you find, regards Dave

You can disable the motion sensor on th newer ones, for ferry or train. Press button 1 a second time during activation phase. Indicators flash 3 times. ??

ALARMING

Sling the bloody thing before your stuck out somwhere in the rain in the dark with no bike.

They are somewhat heat sensitive. On a cold day I don't think the alarm on mine would go off I kicked the bike over, however when it's warm opening the topbox starts the bloody thing beeping.

thanks for the advice, even if it's not what i want to hear :augie

so.......how easy is it to disconnect it / remove it / bin it :blast

I've got a Selca alarm/immobiliser and I'd love to get rid of it. Alarm doesn't self arm and I never arm it. Immobiliser arms after the ignition has been turned off for a few seconds. I hate it.

I'd love to remove it but I don't suppose I can just cut the wires and bin it.

Mind you, I do believe my insurance is a few quid lower because of it.

Sorry, no real point to this post. It's lunchtime this happens to be a soapbox subject of mine.

Regards

Removing alarms completely is generally fairly straightforward if slightly time consuming, it's installing or bypassing them that's more problematic.

You'll find if it's not a OEM plug and play job that all the wires are simply spliced into the existing loom so really it's a case of removing the alarm splices and re soldering the loom. This should be easy enough as the generally plain black wires of the alarm are being removed and 99% of the time you're reconnecting two ends of the splcied wire and usually that's the same colours. Other than that you may have a couple of microswitches for seat/tank and that's it.

Take your time, check your schematic and have fun

alternatively....

I just got my GSA and there is a factory fitted alarm on it. I will happily scan the wee alarm book for you. I haven’t explored it properly but it seems to explain all of the complicated settings, and yours sounds like the same thing.

Let me know and I’ll do it on Monday for you if you like.

Nathan

(eventually gets up and checks book.....err..."Zusatzbedienungsanleitung.......Anti Theft Alarm DWA 5.1")
