My Anakee’s have been OK, but I wouldn’t say they were great. I haven’t tried the Tourance’s or the Trail Attack’s, but I suspect my feeling would be the same when I’ve used 100% road tyres for years. I know it’s splitting hairs, but it’s just the way I roll
. So I just spoke to Dunlop and Michelin to get an update …...
Per r1happy’s previous update, Dunlop confirmed the Roadsmart will be available in December (existing 170/60 x 17 code is 632853, new 120/70 x 19 front is 632854) and this was a trye I pretty much liked on my ’08 GS. I heard somewhere think it’s The Plod tyre of choice. I’d more than happily give this a try.
I spoke to someone at Michelin who made it clear they have nothing to announce, nor can they discuss products in development, but said guilty person hinted heavily that something is in the pipeline. I asked, hypothetically speaking of course, if Michelin were going to announce a good product when that would be and at the start of the season was the reply so I’m thinking into 2014, maybe March timeframe. No hint on which tyre though I’d have to guess it’s the PR3. Some time back someone told me the existing 19” front isn’t the same compound as the 17” on the PR3’s so I’ll take a look to see if they have done anything to address that on any new releases (implication being the 19” isn’t so sticky, though I’ve not seen it slow down anyone using it on a on GS’s), but again hoops I'd happiy put on a GS.
Anyhow, thought I’d share this since the winter is fast approaching and I for one will be looking at timing to get something sports/touring orientated to ensure LC giggles are maintained during the wet months
