I know I should be over in the 1200 section, but there's more here seen inside a gearbox :D

Changed my gearbox oil today on the HP and the old oil came out red :nenau

I've been using Halfords Part Synth GL5 75W-90 every 5 to 10,000 (this one at 8,000) which is a clear colour and it's never come out red before.

I seem to remember reading about a bearing seal causing discolouration of the oil when it got chewed up. :nenau Done a search and can't find it (Edit - on here, not in the gearbox).

What do you think?

Cheers

I use Valvoline 80/90 racing R1 stuff in my tranny and FD (in the 1200 that is) and thats RED. 20/50 int motor and that too is red.

I'm going to put the red tinge in my oil down to the fact that I spend too much time lurking around in the airhead section.

I must remember to take off my rose tinted spectacles before working on my 1200 :D
