Anyone else had this ?

Just once, whilst in Ireland this weekend, i came to start the bike, and having gone throught its usual checks, the red triangle came back on, together with the brake failure flashing, and when i rode off the speedo wasnt working.

I stopped, switched it off using the kill switch, then the ignition key, and when i switched it back on the thing worked perfectly, and has done ever since.................:eek:eek:nenau

When i collected my 650 twin a couple of weeks ago the guy said it had a computer type thing that logged everything that happened with the bike ie revs/speed etc. If this is fitted to yours (1200 i assume) would it log the reason for this?
Or am i talking bo11ox? :nenau

The speedo and rear wheel ABS circuit both take their information about wheel speed from the rear ABS sensor.

As the fault is Red Triangle and Speedo, its probably an accumulation of fine swarf particles stuck on the rear ABS sensor inside the final drive unit.

It undoes with a torx screw, easy to wipe clean and refit. 10 minute job (after removing the rear wheel).

This has happened to me twice now. Both times needed an ABS unit. The bike is actually in now having the second one fitted. Would love to know why these are failing so often as the last one was only a a year ago. Current price for pump fitted at a dealer is £1300. Thank god for warrantee.
