Sure this has come up before... Rode around 150 miles today and the warning light (triangle with exclaimation mark) decided to show it's self, stopped and checked the rear bulb (my indersatnding is this what the warning's telling me to do) All is well (even took it out and pooped it back to be sure all was tight). Turned the bike off and on - red light goes way. Then comes back. Keep on going until the next stop, turn the bike off... left it about an hour... turned on drove off and no light again, then it comes back on... then oif goes back off and the next switch off.

Any clues... all works as it should, stoplights, ABS, servos - all doing their thing as they should. Bikes an 1150 with only 1600 on the clock. Guessing I'll be getting that ABS recall anyway soon so if can go on the 'puter at the same time.

I had something similar, have a very close look at the rear bulb. Remember if one of the filaments fails, the remaining one is used for both tail & brake, but this sets off the warning light.

Red Light

I agree with Eliminator.Double Check that rear bulb.

Thanks fella's
I'd heard that... did have good look - but will check closer.
Cheers.

Not really worth looking....sometimes the break is so small it's impossible to see, or can be in the cap section.

They're only 50p each...change it anyway.....if the problem's still there then the original was OK and you now have a spare bulb and can move on to find whatthe problem really is..if not, it's problem solved anyway ;) (PS then buy a spare anyway :thumb)

Mine did the same within a few miles of picking-up the bike from new.

I checked the stop/tail lamp, all working fine then remembered the 'failsafe' bit in the handbook about the dual element bulb and the bike using one element for both operations.

The bulb looked fine but a check with a multi-meter showed one element was pharked.

Those very nice people at Ocean (Plymouth) had a NN LED unit to try (it's still in my bike 17,000 miles later undergoing 'trials') ;)

Cheers folks... spares are a good thing for sure.
Will go forthe and purchase.
