... **** me they've locked Mel Gibson up, anything to do with his religious views :nenau

That's nothing - they stoned a FEB in North Skye today. His crime? He stood accused of spreading the disease of pedantry and mediocrity!

Many more will follow.

That is one of the mosy pig-ugly and crude statues I've ever had the misfortune to see. It needs a fence round it to stop anyone with taste or a sense of pride in Scottish art from wrecking the bloody thing.

As a Cornishman, I could also make the same claim...but I won't :D

You'd have more right than most to make that claim. More "Ancient Briton" blood in the Cornish than any other region.

I want to know when the ancient tribes of Alba are going to rise up and throw these incomer Scots back into the North Sea from whence they came!!!!:)

Genetically we (English Irish and Scots) are all very closely linked and wandered into what is now the UK and Ireland as the weather warmed after the last ice age and before the rising sea levels cut us off from mainland Europe. Like it or not we are genetically effectively racial brothers and sisters.

Don't tell Johnny though, he'll already be fully aware of that:D

I think you will find that the Scots actually came from Ireland and therefore it would be the Irish Sea!

And you cannot forget the 'contribution' the Vikings made to the Scottish make up, massive compared to the Anglo Saxon influence.

Where did the Scots come from?

The word "Scot" came from a tribe known as the Scotti who were Irish Gaelic/Celts.

The Celtic tribes were believed to have come from the east, perhaps Persia (Iraq) or beyond or at the very least central Europe in the Iron Age. They conquered most of Europe including Rome as they moved westward into Gaul and Iberia, then up into Ireland and eventually Scotland.

Some believe that the Picts were a Celtic tribe also. They were in northern Britain before the Scots, perhaps by way of Germany or Denmark. But their origins are lost in the mists of time and no one knows for certain.
