Morning all,

Does anyone know - is it possible to register a vehicle to a company rather than an individual?

I know that a vehicle can be transferred to a registered motor trader, but what about a simple investment company that, amongst other things, might hold one or more vehicles?

The investment company must be able to own vehicles and it must be possible for its directors to be covered by an insurance policy enabling the vehicles to be moved on the road from time to time.

Please, does anyone know what the rules and regulations are around this?

Cheers,

Paul G

With my own LTd Compnay I used to put the company name on the V5 and then purchase company insurance to cover all employees. I was the director but not named on the V5.

Just put the vehicle in the name of the limited company and take out a company policy to cover the various drivers.

You may be restricted to employees / Directors only.

Better check up on the BIK situation too but his will depend on use etc.

I have a limited company and register vehicles in its name with dvlc to can either insure through the company or its possible to insure yourself even though its not in your name

Insurance companies?

Hi -

The traditional insurance companies (Bennets, e-bike, etc) will only insure a bike if it's owned by an individual rather than a company.

Please, what insurance companies have you used, that are happy to insure a company-owned vehicle?

Paul

Aviva will insure co. owned vehicles.
But the policies are generally more expensive than private ones.
When I pointed out how much more expensive these policies were, the nice lady pointed out that I could personally insure the vehicle as the keeper, even though it was owned by the company.

I use the NFU (even though I don't have a farm) and they cover my Sprinter and my Discovery commercial, both of which are registered in the company name. They even cover my Ifor Williams tipping trailer when it is parked and not attached to the Discovery. Not the cheapest, but feel they wouldn't try to wriggle out of a genuine claim

BMW insured my company bike with me as the named driver and policyholder and knowing that the company own the bike without any problem.

OP, you might need to look at what financial valuation a 'Company' insurance is issued for. Some are 'Book value' ie the value the asset as shown in the company's books. This can be considerably less than reinstatement, obviously.
