Rejecting the bike?

Recently collected my new GS. First 100-150 miles was fine then it developed a really intermittent misfire, usually when sitting at a constant speed. I've had it back at the dealers 4 times now and of course each time the mechanics ride it for 10 mins its fine and I'm sent on my way.

Totally lost confidence in the bike now but not sure what to do when my local dealer isn't interested?

Reject it, if it can't be fixed

Try another dealer, speak to BMW Customer services

Buy a Triumph

Take the mechanic with you as a pillion ...I managed to induce some lovely popping sounds on over run.
I struggle to see how you can reject if they cant find a problem,try a different dealer to check the bike over.

Before everyone jumps the gun here,are you sure that there really is a problem with the bike?

Could it be simply surging/hunting at a particular rev setting due to how you`re riding it?

Just maybe that`s why the mechanics aren`t finding a problem.

Why not ride another bike or two to see if the 'problem' still exists?

Firstly

What mode is the bike in when you experience this 'misfire'.

If you are in 'dynamic' or even 'road' then it does feel like it needs to be constantly pushed.

If this is the case then I do not believe there is a problem.

If the misfire is in 'rain' mode then maybe you do have an issue.

This is just my interpretation not fact.

Keeping it a constant speed is not a good thing when running in a bike (or even a car)

Anybody who rides a R12GS WC, won't appreciate the quality of a 1150GS..............they should just stick to riding the latest trinket, that makes them feel worthy and impresses their mates

Thanks for the advice. It is definitely a misfire, best way to describe it, feels like is loses all power for a couple of seconds then picks up again. I'll try riding in the different modes as I haven't played around with that too much yet.

Have you tried running it on cruise control - I agree with other comments here if you are in dynamic or even road mode it can feel as if its hunting a little as the throttle action is a little brisk!

And I would expect, as Twizzle says the rev counter would be giving you a wave

When you took it in did the dealer not run a diagnostic check!!

Something's happening. The dealer should do diagnostics and a software update (or reinstall)

Dealer should talk to factory technical if they can't sort it.

You should not lose all faith in the bike until it really proves itself unsolvable.

I presume you have changed fuel supplier as a first measure?
