If I understand correctly the speedo cable is mounted in a jig and the rest of the bike built around it.

you must have a froday afternoon bike, I doubt you'll see 200,000 miles out of it

On the other hand is this a problem that could plauge us all - 'I'm now to scared to look at my speedo'

I have had to replace two dip beam bulbs on mine in the last 7 years!! Took it to see if BMW would do a good will warranty replacement. They told me to f**k off and take the rusting pile of scrap with me!
