I have been considering recently, about changing my 2006 GSA for the new 'make-over' GSA.........

.......and although I have been very pleased with my present bike, I have had a few reliability issues with it..although none that I would ever call serious.

But having read a lot of posts on here about certain reliability 'issues' it seems that the once trusted 'unbreakable' tag of the GS1200 adventure is in danger.

I'm just wondering if the new model is any more prone to these issues, particularity with all this talk of high quantity production resulting in poorer build quality, or is it just the case that there are so many GSA's out there now, that there are more owners reporting problems and it's all proportional??

Any views??

I've got to say that I'm very happy with my GSA....but the fuel pump issues and build-quality problems have seriously made me re-consider buying again and sticking with my ‘trusted’ bike.

Thanks :thumb2

Wouldn't have said there was any change -maybe slightly better. EWS seems to have been solved. Fuel pump controller issue has been around since the 1200s were introduced in 2004.

The new GSA is a weapon:thumb

Smoother faster,
I think reliabilty is just down to your Donald Duck:thumb
Won't be any worse than the 06 :thumb

Agreed...

(I think reliabilty is just down to your Donald Duck)

Oonyack did you eventually get your fuel cap replaced (paint quality issues)

Had the same issues myself and was looking for a picture if you happen to have one by chance???

I sold my 2006 12GSA earlier this summer and collected my new 2008 GSA last week. I must admit that before I left the shop I made sure that I had the breakdown numbers in my mobile.

In fairness to my 2006 one, in 2 years I only had to get the spot light switch replaced. I love driving the 12GSA but I don't trust them. I had more trust in my 11GS and 1150GSA.

While I was waiting collection, a 2008 12GSA was getting the EWS fixed as a call back.

I think they will be as reliable / unreliable as the earlier model. Gearbox feels very smooth though. 4 years on and still reports of fuel pump controller failures, crazy!
