Does anyone know where I can get my rear brake shoes relined with softer linings so I can have a rear brake that works.Have tried "chalking/filing" linings.

I hate to admit this. But I fitted EBC ( :barf ) Shoes (couldn't find anything else at the time) to Jills 100gs. I have to say they work rather well :nenau good feel with positive braking. However I wouldn't put their disc pads in anything.

I have Jap callipers and EBC HH 100 pads on my G/S, GS , and I had them on my VFR , and they are by far the best pad I have ever used on these bikes.

But they didn't suit the Brembo disk on my F650GS.

So I think it is unwise to generalise on pads by Brand.

If some type of pads don't work with some disks it is good to know but the statement that every type of EBC pad is no use with every disk is just stuff and nonsense - every test of pads I have read has EBC pads right up at the top.

Do you know the age of the old shoes? They dry out, & don't work well. The old shoes on mine were like this - gave no braking at all, despite deglazing, trying to make sure there were no high spots etc. They hadn't had any oil on them AFAIK.

I have also put in EBC brake shoes, & they have worked well.

The rider to my comment here is that I haven't had a big enough sample of other brake shoe brands in this appication to know if EBC is good bad or indifferent - so can only compare the new shoes to the old...

Mine were soaked in gearbox oil for weeks :blast - they seem to be much better now for some reason:nenau

Wouldn't recommend it tho...
