I've just had the hard drive replaced on my Mac Book pro.

I backed up the original one using Time machine, i've now tried re-loading all the data using Migration Assistant and it states it is unable to, due to the new HD having an earlier version of Snow Leopard and it needs upgrading to Mountain Lion due to the original back up being completed using this version.

How do I get the OSX upgraded without having to pay the £17 again?

connect to the mac app store and download mountain lion again. initially it will ask for the money, but enter your apple ID and it will switch to free.

I had to order more RAM today as my iMac has slowed significantly since updating to Mountain Lion.

i always anticipated upping the RAM on my macbook pro, but it seems fine with the standard 4GB.

heavy lifting is done on my iMac which has 12GB though :)
