!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STOP PRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am now unable to make it to Hilltop this Saturday so there is a remap vacancy at 1430.

Geoff at Hilltop has been advised.

Cheers

Further stop press.....

Geoff reckons he must have done all of them by now, and can't understand where all the GS's are coming from :D

Stan Stephens used to claim that about the Suzuki RG500s. Although I think there may be a few more 1200GSs about than RGs.... :D

Sorry you can't make it Skipssong.

One free slot left for this Saturday for the discounted price of £330 - time slot is 1330.

Had mine done by Geoff yesterday and I am we'll happy with the result. The ride back was entirely different the bike is smoother and has more get up and go,the before and after figures show an increase in power and torque. The top end power increase was not my reason for having it done I was looking for more low down pull and that's what I have got :thumby:

The downside of my visit is I chose the day the chippy up the road was shut :blast so I visited the local shop and had the worst tasting chicken and sweetcorn roll I have ever tasted :barf

How's your stomach 24 hours on? Hope the chippy is open tomorrow. One sleep to go....:blast damn, I promised myself I would never utter that expression :rob

My Hilltop Experience - R1200GS 04 - 20k miles on clock

Went to see Geoff on Thursday, godawful weather on return journey so couldn't really try it out. But immediately seemed to rev more freely and responsiveness improved.

Just been for 50 mile run on mix of twisty & fast A roads. Can really notice the difference, 4th gear has become an entertaining twist & squirt experience, seamless power from 40 to 90ish, 5th the same, but not sure of the speed band as staights not long enough to push it any faster.

I was apprehensive, but persuaded by mate. Good value for money especially as my tank range seems to have extended by 30 miles as well.

Second GS Mapped by Geoff today, great results and good banter :)

Nice to meet a couple of you other Tossers there to, Beemerman was it you on the way in towards Hilltop as I was on the way out (I was on a Black GSA)

Bottom end is great now, no woolly throttle response and a good if not a bit wet ride home.

It's not all about the figures, my GSA is 100% better now in terms of throttle response and low to mid range fuelling, in fact from the factory it appeared as if it was being given a diet of just air around 4k :)

Anybody thinking about it, do it, far greater results to be had here than any can / filter combination, and in the words of Arnie "I'll be back" (But with the ZX12R)

Fluff'

PS, Some Jockenese Welsh bloke pinched my spot :)

I can only reiterate what Fluffmeister has said - this is the best mod I have ever done to any bike. Unbelievable results which translate directly to how the bike responds in real world conditions on the road. Gone has the tetchy low rpm throttle response and it will pull like a train in any gear now.

And finally, proof that red ones are more powerful, as my '08 single cam produced the highest torque figure Geoff has yet seen from any 1200GS. The figures are meaningless without the experience of riding the bike on the road, but here they are anyway. These are with Remus headers and Akro can (baffle out) and in 6th gear:

Before remap: Max Power 86.87 bhp @ 7,853 rpm
Max torque 58.77 ft/lb @ 7,680 rpm

After remap: Max Power 107.18 bhp @ 7,765 rpm
Max torque 88.69 ft/lb @ 5,564 rpm (RECORD!!!!)

Great to meet the other GSer's today - was a good laugh and thanks to Geoff for the banter and winding me up so well when the bike was sat on the rev limiter.....

Fluff - probably was me - sorry I missed you.

Nice to meet you chaps there today. I was on my my "tractor" (R1150GS Adv).
I had guessed it would be about 65BHP to start with, Beemerman59 was less optimistic
with a guess of 55 BHP  Not many figures posted her for the 1150 so here u go ...

Before
Max Power 68.3 BHP
Max Torque 55.94 Ft/lb

After
Max Power 83.01 BHP
Max Torque 72.59 Ft/lb

As I set off from Hilltop through Earl Shilton it was immediately obvious the bike was smoother. Previously there was some slight surging at low speed - this has now gone.
Because I caught some heavy rain and strong winds I couldn't really stretch its legs on
the way home, but when I get a few miles on it I will post if there has been on impact
on fuel economy and if I notice the extra Torque with a pillion on board.

Geoff is a great laugh. If you're reading this Geoff I want a go on that R1 :D

I have been following this post and think the re-map is the way to go but do I de-cat my headers first ie does de-catting make a big difference to the figures. The reason I ask is I can't afford a re-map and replacement exhaust system so I will have to keep the original.
Has anybody had a standard two valver mapped.

And also... Me!

When I finally got there, no thanks to Google Maps and many thanks to Geoff who had to come and find me (on his R1). To be honest the way I effortlessly overtook Geoff on the by-pass he wondered why on earth I wanted or needed a remap doing at all! :augie

Anywho, When I did get there it was good to meet up with the other Tosser's where they all looked in amazement at my bike and Devil offered me double whatever I paid for it.... Errrr, note to self - Take your medication, every day! :blast

Sorry guys, and here are my figures:

Before:
Max Power - 82.63bhp @ 8186.5rpm
Max Torque- 61.23Ft/lb @ 6355.8rpm

After:
Max Power - 100.87bhp @ 7403.8rpm
Max Torque- 78.72Ft/lb @ 5996.6rpm

As the rest of you the most obvious and most noticeable was how smooth the bike felt and (even though it was pelting down) how much low down grunt the GS now has. can't say I noticed any better appreciation in fuel economy but that's early days yet and even if there's none or even slightly less, the way the bike feels now will be well worth the trade off.

Here's the graphs:
